I Know What You Are...

You're small and rectangular, and covered in plastic...

You're...THE TWILIGHT DVD.

Be still, my heart.

That's right, ladies. Edward will be making his in-home debut in my living room on Friday, March 27th at 8pm. I will provide some snacks and wine, but please feel free to bring anything you like!

Other details: It's a Pajama Party! Since we will be all piled up in the living room, wear your comfiest and cutest (hey, Edward will be there!) pj's.
Also, we will have some new friends! A few of the gals I know from Barnesville will be joining us for thier first Ab Phab! They are fellow junkies, so no worries, and they are a ton of fun. These ladies are participating in the Breast Cancer Three Day this year, and are in the process of fundraising for the walk. I thought it would be super special if AbPhab could contribute, since we are staying in this month. $20 donations will be collected (voluntary, of course) at the party. What an easy way to support breast cancer research!! Girl power!

The party will start at 7 and we will fire up the vampires at 8 sharp!
RSVP for me, please! Can't wait to see you all, and squeal like silly little schoolgirls for 2 hours!

Feb...

Anyone feel like planning something?
Maybe just dinner?
Suggestions?

January Gathering!

It's time for our first get together of 2009! Since we are all coming out of the crazy holiday mode, I thought something low-key would be nice for this month.
What's better than a good chick flick??

Date: Friday, January 16th
Dinner at Spicy Thai at 7.
We will see the 9:00-ish (exact time later) showing.

I hope one of our collective resolutions for the new year is to try to hang out more. I know we are all busy, and it's hard to coordinate these things. If anyone ever needs a certain night, or has an idea for an event, please let me know! I don't want to do all the planning...it's more fun and more fair if we all work on it. I hope we get lots of new gals involved this year, too. (Only awesome ones, of course.)

Please RSVP here so that I can make a reservation!
Thanks, and Love!

Heather

1st Year Anniversary!!

Okay ladies...THIS IS SERIOUS!! I know we are all busy, but we cannot have come this far to simply drop the ball. As of right now, Friday, December 19, we are going ice skating (and hopefully out on the town for some fun as I know how long we last doing anything overly physical). I don't want your excuses, because we all have them, just your participation.

Details for the where to meet and when will come later, just swear your loyalty and first born (second or third depending on who you are, we are not picky), and get your ass ready for the fun you know you will have!

I LOVE YOU ALWAYS (and you know I mean it 'cause it is all in caps!)

Balance-Shmalance

This was emailed to me so I just had to share.

Published on Mommy Track'd (http://www.mommytrackd.com)
It's A Post-Balance World.
We got a Wii Fit board like, eight months ago, and after gorging myself on turkey and stuffing and pumpkin pie all weekend, I decided that I should probably take it out of the box and give it a try. I created a Mii (an avatar that’s supposed to represent me on screen while I work out) and then I selected a personal trainer. I chose the male, because he was kind of hot, in a digitized sort of way. Then the fit board determined my age, height, weight and BMI. At which point my personal trainer laughed in my face, and promptly morphed my tall, young, slender Mii into a middle aged mom Mii with a stomach pooch and jiggly thighs. At which point I stuck out my tongue. At a video game.

Anyway, the first thing my personal trainer – let’s call him Gengis – wanted me to do was a three-part fitness test. First on the agenda was step aerobics. Good. Fine. I like step aerobics. In the mid 90’s, I was the queen of step classes at the downtown Los Angeles YMCA. And I could tell, Gengis was impressed. I’m pretty sure I saw him raise his eyebrows after I managed a particularly difficult set of footwork. “Very Good,” he told me, as he labeled me an Advanced Intermediate and informed me that I had unlocked a new exercise. I smiled. I couldn’t help it. Next up was some weight training, though, and Gengis challenged me to a set of six, one-armed push ups. You’re on, I told him. I totally cheated and did them with my knees touching the floor, but whatever, what Gengis doesn’t know won’t hurt him. Begrudgingly, he labeled me an Intermediate, and I moved on with just the teeny tiniest pang of guilt. Then, finally, Gengis presented the last category of my fit test: balance.

Without warning, my Mii suddenly transformed into a little ball, and dropped onto a table with a hole in it. The table moved with my body – if I leaned left, the table tilted down to the left – and the goal was to tilt the table so that the ball would roll into the hole. Within three seconds, my ball had rolled off the side of the table. YOU FAILED, said Gengis. Let me try that again, I said. I just need to get the hang of it. I leaned to the left, leaned forward, leaned backward, leaned right, and again, my ball rolled off the table. YOU FAILED, Gengis informed me again. I detected a snicker as the word NOVICE flashed on the screen. No shit, I snapped. Have you seen the piles in my kitchen? Have you heard my kids whine for my attention? Have you noticed the unfinished manuscript sitting on top of my desk? I don’t spend all day sitting around inside of a virtual gym, working on my virtual six-pack and flirting with virtual hotties. I spend all day running around like a freaking maniac. I schlep kids to dentist appointments and to after school activities, and I help them with homework and I make dinner every night, and I fill out camp forms and in case you haven’t noticed, I just spent three days cooking for twenty-seven people, and all of last weekend hand-sewing a Native American baby carrier for my first grader’s Thanksgiving costume at school. And oh, yeah, I also, allegedly, work. So of course I’m a freaking novice at balance, Gengis! I’M A GOD DAMN WORKING MOTHER.

Well, excuuuuse me, Gengis said. All I asked was for you to roll a little ball into a little hole. There’s no need to be so touchy. Balance is just something you’ll have to work on, that’s all. It’s a goal. See? I’m writing it up here in your fitness assessment: WORK ON BALANCE.

But I shook my head. No, I told him. I don’t think so. I’m over trying to balance. It’s totally unrealistic. I mean, look at what just happened. I roll off the table every time. I’m telling you, it’s just not natural. I could try to integrate, or blend, or layer, possibly, but balancing….I don’t know. It feels very passé to me. It feels very early 2008. America has changed, you know. We’re post-racial now, and post-gender, and post-ironic, and yeah, I’m pretty sure we’re post-balance, too. It’s nothing personal. I blame Sarah Palin, actually. I mean, why not, the Republicans are blaming her for everything, anyway, so it’s just one more thing to throw on the pile. But my point is, balance is out. It’s a Not. The step aerobics is okay ‘cause it’s got that retro-cool vibe going for it, but if you don’t mind, Gengis, let’s just ix-nay the alance-bay from now on, ‘kay?

But Gengis just stared at me, his eyes unblinking. I have to go now, he said, calmly. Good work today. Next time, let’s see if you can do even better! I rolled my eyes and turned off the Wii. Sorry, Gengis, I thought to myself. But next time, I’m going to try the female trainer. I have a feeling she’ll understand exactly what I’m talking about.

Even without having read the book, the movie will still be fun!

Lena said that we can buy tickets starting on the Tuesday before the movie starts. I will be getting mine then, just to be safe. If you girls want to give me your money this weekend, I will get them and pick them up early.
No lines!!

How about dinner at American Pie at around 6:30? That should give us plenty of time to eat and hang out and get as wound up as possible to see some Edward! We will go to the 9pm-ish show.

Say what you need to say...

Oh, Kelly! What a sweet post. I love this idea, and I have always wanted to do that post where you speak anonymously about people when you list your thanks, so I am going for that. These are for my gals.

1. Thank you, for opening up to me when we both need it most. I hope it never stops.

2. Thank you, for being so patient with me, no matter what. I am lucky.

3. Thank you, for remembering our past, and for being one of the most genuine people I have ever met.

4. Thank you, for being the life of the party, and for showing me what true self esteem looks like.

5. Thank you, for understanding me, and for always making me feel better about my flaws. You are so true to yourself, and I am inspired by you.

5. Thank you, for showing me what a living goddess looks and lives like.

6. Thank you, for being my soul mate.

7. Thank you, for the smile you always have, and for sharing your amazing spirit with the world. You'll find all you want and more.

8. Thank you,for showing us all what it means to be filled with cheer. I don't think I have ever seen you act gloomy, and I notice.

9. Thank you, for coming into my life so seamlessly, and without any hesitation, taking a spot in my heart.

10. Thank you, for keeping my sane through one of the hardest and most fun times in my life.

11. Thank you, for being so open and unafraid to jump right in to the most amazing group of women anywhere.

Of course there are more that aren't on here, and no, don't be guessing. Takes the fun out of it. I would love to see more of these.
Love you, you crazy broads!

The Thank You Thread

So I was sitting around with one of the Ab Phabulous ladies going over just HOW Fabulous we really were. I was inspired by her to write this, by being inspired by you ladies. I know I have said it before, but I think everyone needs to hear it sometimes. Each one of you have touched my life in a way that goes beyond anything I could say, write or do, but thank you. This is a thank you thread. I will post ten thank yous, then hopefully, someone else will post ten more thank yous and so on and so forth. Here it goes:

1. Thank You, for proving men wrong when they say "Girls cannot be friends".
2. Thank You, for making me feel rooted for the first time in my life.
3. Thank You, for cropping out the "fat" parts of my body in pictures before posting them.
4. Thank You, for showing me what it is like to depend on someone.
5. Thank You, for understanding girl code.
6. Thank You, for helping me sort out man code.
7. Thank You, for helping my drunk self to the couch even when you may be more drunk.
8. Thank You, for a place to stay when my place sucked.
9. Thank You, for making me stay around longer than planned, "just to chat".
10. Thank You, for keeping my secrets and tiptoeing around the subject in order to keep it.

Now it's your turn.

What are you guys thinking for AbPhab this month? As busy as things are, I vote we take an AbPhab photo at my parent's vow renewal and call it a month!
For November, would anyone want to go back to Bonnie's? Thinking about Christmas presents here...or should we do something different? Let's discuss....
P.S. I Love You!

Ahh, If It Had Only Been THIS Easy!

So I was bored looking around the internet and ran across this:
They created a vending machine that despenses men in women's popular flavors like, action, romantic and rich. Wait til you see Mr.Perfect! This video is really funny.

If your husband, fiance or boyfriend were in a vending machine, what "Man Flavor" did you get?

Our Pottery Is Finished

Well, here it is ladies. Bonnie emailed me the pictures. I haven't spoken with her on pick-up, but if anyone would like to go pick them up I am sure it would be fine. Anyway, looks like we did a good job. We are some artsy women!

FYI

Good day my dearest ladies. As some of you know I have been in contact with Bonnie AKA "The Clay Lady" in order to set up my secret plan to take my future hubby flying for his birthday. Many of you may be wondering what happened to your pieces. Bonnie asked for me to apologize to everyone about the delay and let you know that they were firing yesterday. She said that she has been completely wrapped up and they should be done soon. That said, she sent me some pictures from that night. Hope ya'll enjoy.

Laurie demonstrates why it is so very important to get multiple shots of group pictures. Sorry, I had to. Love you Laurie and BTW, just a reminder, you are totally invited anywhere, anytime for any group function! (Don't roll your eyes, you know you love me.)
